As we wrap up our 2026 season and head into our break, it’s time to look forward to next year and reflect on our season. This year was another fantastic year of films: there were laughs, a few tears, we were challenged, shocked a few times and above all entertained.
The 2027 season is going to be an exciting one for Queenstown Film Society. After many wonderful years at Dorothy Browns, we are moving. After careful consideration and deliberation throughout the 2026 season the committee has decided it’s in our best interest to move to a new location.
When our new season starts at the end of April, we will be screening at Silky Otter Cinemas in Remarkables Park. There is a lot to be excited about in this move – a near-new state of the art cinema, free popcorn and discounted drinks for members on QFS nights. But more importantly financial stability for the society and a freeze of membership fees for the foreseeable future.
We have lots of things in the works for next season! Our committee is going to be working hard over summer to craft a programme of films, events and social gatherings all aimed at strengthening the QFS community and making 2027 our best season yet.
